The Mazama Glacier route on the Southeast Face of Mount Adams
starts with a standard hike from Bird Creek Meadows at 5,600
feet. The trail winds to the Hellroaring Overlook at 6,400
feet and then follows an obscured route over snowfields and rocky
moraines to Sunrise Camp at 8,300 feet. From that base camp,
the route goes straight up the Mazama Glacier and up a steep pitch
to the 11,657-foot Piker's Peak (a.k.a. False Summit). The
final climb follows the standard South Side route to the
12,276-foot Summit.
