The Climb:
One week after a cloudy and cold climb of Middle Sister,
the weather was drastically improved for my solo climb of South Sister in Central Oregon.
Getting off to a 3:00 am start from my "campsite" in the back seat of my car,
I navigated the 5.6 mile, 4,800-foot elevation gain route in a little over 5 hours.
I was the first person to reach the summit that day!
After spending 30 minutes admiring the view (which you can too with my pictures), I hiked
and jogged my way back to the car in just over 3 hours. Even with the long drive back
to Portland, I was back at my apartment by 4:00 pm that afternoon. Not a bad day,
if you ask me. :)
Enjoy the photos and come back soon to see the complete climbing story. Thanks, Matt.
